Every Love God Greatly study highlights one of the languages we serve – our new study, Grace-Filled Motherhood, includes the highlight of our Luganda branch!

Join us in prayer for Sylvia, her team, and the women of her language and nation as you read her story, and help us spread God’s Word in Luganda!

My name is Sylvia. I am a mother to two beautiful girls, Jessa and Ruth. I am also a ministry leader at Suubi TeenMOPS Uganda. We provide a supportive community to teenage mothers and their children. We give them trade skills, organic farming skills, food, medical, business training, and a journey of spiritual growth. I live in East Africa in Uganda, in a remote village called Kapeeka. My native language is Luganda, and I’m a Luganda Language LGG Translator. My passion is to educate every woman to see how precious they are in God’s eyes, develop them as leaders, and create opportunities for them to realize their true value as women and mothers.

I am the youngest of 9 children from my mother but not my father. He had many wives and was not around. Being raised by my single mother, I saw how hard she worked to feed and educate us. There are not many opportunities for a woman to thrive here, especially when she is not educated. Knowing and experiencing this, my desire to support women and help them realize their potential grew. By the grace of God, I graduated college, and I thank Him for that.

In 2020, we started meeting for a Bible study with Suubi women. We began using the LGG weekly Bible reading plan and memory verses posted on Facebook. I would get the Scripture posted on the LGG page, write it down, get it translated in our local language, and discuss it with our women in the group. At the time, I had no idea that one of the missions for LGG is to break language barriers so that women can know God’s Word in their native language. Now, women who didn’t know how to go deep into God’s Word are learning. We thank God for the LGG mission.

In March 2023, at a MOPS Greece conference, I met Viola and Angela. It was a dream come true to see them in person! I was so encouraged to step into the role of an LGG Luganda translator for the Luganda Branch. I couldn’t wait to get back home to tell my team and local pastor all about how important it is to have journals and Christian studies translated in our local language. Soon our first Luganda Journal will be ready. Hurray!
